Terms of use

The short version

• Vokku is free to use today, and it is a learning aid — not a teacher, and not a translator to rely on.
• Be decent, do not try to break the service, and do not use the AI features to produce anything harmful.
• You can leave whenever you like, and have your account deleted.

Your account

• You need an account, because that is what saves and syncs your progress.
• You must be at least 13 years old.
• Keep access to your email secure. Anyone who can read your email can sign in as you.
• One account per person, and do not share it.

Plans and payment

Vokku is free to use today. There is nothing to pay, and nothing to cancel.

If we introduce paid plans later, we will say so in the app and on this page before anything is charged, and those plans will have their own terms covering price, renewal and refunds. Nothing on this page commits you to a payment.

Acceptable use

• Do not use the AI features to produce illegal, hateful or otherwise harmful content, or to try to make them ignore their instructions.
• Do not scrape, republish or resell our language content, stories or dictionary data.
• Do not try to break, overload or probe the service, and do not try to reach another person's account.
• Do not point automated clients at our servers.

AI features

Vokku uses AI in two places: the chat, and filling in a vocabulary card from a word or phrase you give it.

Replies and generated cards come from a machine and can be wrong, including when they sound confident. Treat a correction as practice, not as authority, and do not rely on it for anything that matters outside your learning.

The AI features have daily limits so the shared cost stays sane, and we may change those limits.

Content and ownership

The app, its design and the language content we ship stay ours or our licensors'. You may use them for your own learning, and nothing more.

The cards, notes and messages you write stay yours. You give us the permission we need to store them, sync them to your other devices, and — for the AI features — send them to our AI provider so that you get a reply.

Availability

Vokku is provided as it is. We do not promise it will always be available or free of faults, and we may change or remove features. We keep server backups, but do not treat Vokku as the only home for something you cannot lose.

Ending it

You can stop using Vokku at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account: see how to delete your account.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the service or other people at risk. Where we can, we will tell you why first.

Liability

Nothing here limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Beyond that, and as far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost data or lost progress. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living elsewhere, you keep the protections of your local law and may bring a claim in your own country.

Changes to these terms

We will post changes here and update the date at the top. When a change matters, we will say so in the app. Continuing to use Vokku after a change means you accept it.
